At the Monday, February 9 SCSD#2 Board of Trustees unanimously selected Rebecca Adsit as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools.

With 26 total years of experience in education, Adsit began her career as an English teacher in Farson and Rock Springs, Wyoming. She transitioned to Sheridan where she began working as an English teacher and instructional coach at Sheridan Junior High School, and then became the school principal for the 2017-18 school year.

Ms. Adsit has continued to serve the students and staff of SCSD2 in her current role as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Human Resources since 2021.

“Thank you for your trust in me to serve our community in this new capacity. The unwavering dedication, brilliance, and heart that our staff, students and parents bring every day are what sets us apart. I know that our success is because of the people,” Adsit said. “I am ready to help us continue striving to be the very best version of ourselves, ensuring every student is challenged, supported, and prepared for a bright future and am humbled to walk alongside all of you.”

Thirteen individuals from around the nation applied for the SCSD2 superintendent job opening. Last week, four finalists completed a rigorous interview process with five separate panels and participated in a community forum, streamed live the evening of February 4th.

“Selecting a superintendent is the most significant responsibility of this Board, and we approached it with the gravity it deserves,” said Board Chair Shane Rader. “After a rigorous national search and deep deliberation, it became clear that Ms. Adsit is the leader SCSD2 needs. Beyond her dedication already to our district, Ms. Adsit embodies the integrity and trust our staff and community value most. Her commitment to excellence and collaborative spirit make her the perfect fit to lead our students and staff.”

According to current superintendent Scott Stults,

“Rebecca will bring expertise, experience, and passion to help our district rise to the next level. She recognizes what has made SCSD2 successful. In each role Rebecca has served in, she has exemplified collaborative, instructional leadership. I couldn’t be more confident or excited for what lies ahead for her and our district.”

Adsit will begin work as SCSD2 Superintendent of Schools on June 30, 2026.
