Suspect Killed In Officer Involved Shooting Outside Of Cody

A suspect is dead after getting involved in a police officer involved shooting incident near Cody.

According to the Cody Police Department, just after 8pm on Monday (July 28th), an officer initiated a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

The chase eventually moved onto US Highways 14/16/20 eastbound, but then the vehicle experienced an undetermined mechanical failure and became inoperable about 3 miles outside of the Cody city limits.

Upon contact with the suspect, a shooting occurred and the suspect was fatally wounded.

No officers were injured in the incident and the case is currently being investigated by the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation.
