Spanish Influenza, Nov. 5, 1918

Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.

The Enterprise will be on the job tonight, Nov. 5, to provide election returns, but by phone only. Dr. Anna Hurd, county health officer, notified the Enterprise today that admission of the public to the newspaper offices must be prohibited due to quarantine restrictions prohibiting public gatherings.

Mr. Revis came to town two days ago and was taken ill with the flu. His physician found him a hospital bed and a nurse’s care at Mrs. Demmon’s, 419 West Burkitt street.

Daily reports of new cases of influenza for the county dwindled to 12 for yesterday. No death in Sheridan was reported for the 24 hours ending at noon today, but two occurred at Carneyville and one at Monarch.
