Jo Co Commission Makes Appointments to Lake DeSmet Board

Johnson County’s Commissioners have approved the appointment of two people to the Lake DeSmet Advisory Board.

During their regular meeting Tuesday, the commission considered and then reappointed Kevin Michelena to represent environmental interests on the board, and also appointed Aaron Williams to represent recreational interests on the board.

Both appointees will serve two-year terms on the board through the end of 2027.

According to their bylaws, the board’s purpose is to advise the county commission through the Lake DeSmet Operating Department, in the management and administration of the Lake DeSmet Reservoir. They shall research, strategize, and propose solutions regarding management, maintenance, and marketing of the lake to the operating department and to the county commission.
