The intersection of US 87, WY 332, and WY 335, known as the Bighorn Y intersection, underwent a study to determine if the department should change the intersection to allow for safer and more efficient traffic flow.
Known for causing near misses of collisions and excessive speeds by some motorists, WYDOT is exploring alternatives to make the intersection more safe for motists.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse WYDOT Senior Public Relations Specialist Laura Dalles and WYDOT District Traffic Engineer for NE Wyoming District 4 Michelle Edwards invited the public to voice their opinions, concerns and insights on what should be done with the Bighorn Y intersection.
Edwards said the company who was contracted to perform the study for WYDOT followed a strict set of criteria.

Edwards said the contracting company who performed the study presented three separate alternatives as the fourth alternative, the emplacement of a traffic light, did not meet federal requirements.
WYDOT is inviting the public to comment on each of the alternatives and add any input the public feels may be relevant to each option.
