When the new year starts, Sheridan College will start renewing its directional commitment within the context of higher education in the community, state and nation.

Recently the College’s Board of Trustees approved its new 5-year strategic plan, that will run from the beginning of 2025 to the end of 2029.

The Board set 3 goals.

The first is to increase enrollment, retention and completion by recruiting and supporting students throughout their academic journey from enrollment to graduation.

The second is to ensure the college is ready to serve a diverse array of students by providing broad and holistic support both in and out of the classroom.

The third is to strengthen pathways for students into the local and regional workforce.

College President Dr. Walter Tribley explains the purpose of putting a 5-year plan together.

“It reaffirms our strategic direction. We involve our stakeholders, the community, students, staff, faculty, our fundraising partners, getting input from many corners of our service area. It reaffirms where we are going, talks about the challenges we see and how we’re going to address those challenges and take advantage of opportunities.”

To achieve the 3 goals, Dr. Tribley says the college has 3 plan pillars.

Those pillars are to provide value through innovation, be fiscally conscious and provide continuous quality improvement.
