Sheridan County children have a new place to play.
Sheridan City Leaders officially cut the ribbon to declare the new Black Tooth Park playground open, although it’s been ready to go for a little more than 1 month.
The all-inclusive playground area covers a little more than 18,600 square feet and is part of phase four of the Black Tooth Park Project.
Steve Gage is the City of Sheridan Parks Director and explains how the idea for the playground came up and what other work needs to be done nearby.
“The whole idea behind this was to give the community a playground that had all inclusive elements that a playground could have, so it’s not just accessibility to a playground, but you want basic accessibility when you’re on the playground. Our plan is to have a landscape plan that surrounds this facility, so we’re looking at irrigation, trees, turf to put in here and then some picnic shelters, benches.”
The cost of the playground was a little more than $1-million.
