Sheridan Hoop Jam 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament: The Sheridan High School parking lot is about to become a hoop haven.

The annual 3-on-3 hoop jam basketball tournament is this Saturday and Sunday, as around 75 teams will play on some of the 20 courts that have been painted in the lot.

High School Activities Director Kasey Garnhart says the event started back in 2001 originally as a fundraiser to help the school pay for an athletic trainer, and is now more of a fundraiser for the school’s athletic department.

Games are scheduled to begin on both Saturday and Sunday at 9am.

Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team is going from one tournament to another.

Starting today the team will play in a 16-team tournament at Rapid City, South Dakota.

Sheridan will play Laramie today at 4:30pm.

Tomorrow the Troopers play Harrisburg, South Dakota, and Rapid City Post 320, back-to-back starting at 2pm.

On Saturday, it’s one game vs. the Rapid City Expos at 7:30am.

Sunday’s opponent is to be announced.

Coach Austin Cowen says this weekend is a good way to keep the momentum going, after a successful Memorial Day weekend at Gillette.

The Troopers next home game is this coming Tuesday, June 4th, as the team starts conference play against 4-time defending state champion Cheyenne Post 6.

The Sixers have won the Wyoming AA State Championship in 20 of the last 23 years, and won last year’s AA Northwest Regional Tournament, thus they became the first Wyoming team ever to qualify for the Legion World Series.

On top of that, they made it to the national semi-finals.

First pitch for Tuesday’s double-header is scheduled for 3:30pm.

It will also be little league day at the games.

All kids who show up in their jerseys get a free hot dog and get to come onto the field to be recognized in between games.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: Last night the Colorado Rockies won the rubber game of their 3-game series at home vs. Cleveland, by a score of 7-4.

Brendan Rodgers’ 2-run home run was part of a 6-run, 2nd inning, that set the pace for the game.

The Rocks are off today, and starting tomorrow, they will play 10 of the next 13 games on the road, beginning with 3 at the LA Dodgers.

NHL Playoffs: In the Stanley Cup Playoff Western Conference Finals last night, Dallas scored twice in the first 5 ½ minutes of the game, but it was all Edmonton after that, as the Oilers would prevail at home 5-2 to tie the series at 2 wins each.

Today is Game 5 between Florida and the New York Rangers, starting at 6pm.

That series is also tied at 2.
