On June 7, 2023, Elijah Buller was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly possessing videos of child pornography. Buller, at an arraignment hearing Tuesday in District Court, pleaded not guilty to both of the charges. District Court Judge Ben Kirven said the dates for a trial and pretrial conference would be scheduled at a later time.
Kirven approved a request to modify the conditions of the defendant’s bond. The new conditions of the bond state that Buller cannot be around anyone under the age of 18 unless he’s accompanied by an adult and he can have one electronic device in his possession, however, Internet access on that device will not be allowed. The electronic device will also be subject to random searches by law enforcement.
According to court documents, in 2022, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Buller’s illegal online activity. An investigation led to the discovery of 73 video files on Buller’s Google Drive and at least 137 videos on his laptop. If convicted on both counts, Buller faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000.
