Barrasso, Lummis Working to Undo Biden’s ‘Green Tax’ on Truckers

U.S. Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis (both R-WY) voted in support of a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Biden administration’s rule regarding emission standards for heavy-duty trucks. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates the cost to install the new technology required to meet the new rule’s standards will cost between $2,500 and $8,300 per vehicle. The rule’s new standards cover nitrogen oxides and other air pollutants including particulate matter, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. The rule also would change requirements regarding emission control systems and emission-related warranties.
In February, Barrasso and Lummis co-sponsored this CRA resolution led by Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska. Last November, the senators also signed a letter pushing the EPA to avoid implementing the regulations to preserve Wyoming’s trucking industry and keep the supply chain intact. The joint release from Lummis and Barrasso states that existing regulations on trucks have already resulted in a decrease in emissions between 98 and 99 percent compared to models from the late 1990s.
