Pat BlairSix individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations were honored with 2019 Awards of Excellence Wednesday during the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon.
Sasha Johnston, who’s president of the Chamber board of directors, explained the selection process.
Johnston said a task force comprised of Chamber staff, volunteers and Chamber board members select five nominees in each category, and final selection is made by the Chamber membership.
Winners in 2019 included Jenny Craft for the Spirit of Sheridan award, Sheridan Community Land Trust for Key Service and the WYO Theater for Strength of Sheridan.
The Small Business Award, presented to a business with under 20 full-time employees, went to Red Bison Studio, and the Large Business Award, for businesses with 20 or more employees, was presented to Emit.
Antonia Armenta-Miller was named the 2019 Business Person of the Year.
Johnston said this year’s nominees were a very strong group. She said even being nominated is an honor, adding that most of the people and businesses don’t do the things that earn the nominations in order to be recognized.
She said it’s nice to provide that opportunity to recognize Sheridan people, businesses and organizations for what they do.
Sheridan Media will have more detailed stories in future on the individual award winners.
