This weekend is the last chance this year for Sheridan County residents to get rid of anything they don’t need and not pay a price to dispose of it.

This Saturday (October 29th) is the fall free landfill day from 7:30 am until 5:30pm.

Residents can dispose of up to 1 ton of waste per visit, however they are not allowed to bring tires or any items with freon in them.

Seliena Parker is the Sheridan City Recycling and Solid Waste Coordinator.

She says the Free Landfill days are usually more beneficial to non-city Sheridan residents, but city residents can also make use of the event.

“A lot of people, especially people in the county, don’t have certain benefits that city residents do with coupons for paying for sanitation, water, sewer and recycling and so it’s a way for people that are doing fall or spring clean up to be able bring that excess of what they typically would have in at no charge.”

Parker adds that residents brought in about 130 tons of trash during the 2 free landfill days that were held this past spring.
