Ron RichterA request from a Sheridan nonprofit for additional funding was an item of consideration by the Sheridan City Council Monday night. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue requested $50,000 in funding to help off-set a considerable drop in contributions from foundation and individual donors to the nonprofit, whose mission is to rescue and rehabilitate special-needs cats, provide free and low-cost spay/neuter services to the local community, and assist people who need help keeping their pets during difficult life situations. Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger provided details on the funding request prior to the City Council’s vote on the issue.
Councilman Steve Brantz explained why he’d be voting in favor of the funding request.
The $50,000 funding request from Second Chance passed by a vote of 5 to 2. Councilors Kristen Jennings and Clint Beaver voted against the request for additional funds. The City Council also approved a $100,000 fuel subsidy for Goose Creek Transit through the end of the current fiscal year and awarded the bid for seven Dodge Durango Police Pursuit Vehicles to Falls Dodge out of Niagara Falls, New York in the amount of $272,965.
