As the temperature continues to climb, several counties in southeast Montana are taking preventative measures to prevent a wildland fire from breaking out.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks have placed Stage 1 fire restrictions in Big Horn, Treasure and Musselshell counties.
Campfires at FWP sites are in place except for Tongue River Reservoir State Park, where campfires are allowed in designated fire rings.
Recreationists may cook on a liquid petroleum gas or propane stove that can be turned on and off.
People also may not smoke except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of flammable materials.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks urges people to use caution while they are out recreating due to dry conditions and fire dangers.
