cvannoyThe Clearmont Town Council held their December meeting on the 20 at 6 p.m. at town hall. Mayor Greg Rohrer, town clerk Amy Vineyard, Councilwoman Switzer and Councilman Poppenga were present. A Christmas snack supper was provided by Mayor Rohrer.
There were few items on the agenda to be discussed, one item was the replacement of Vineyard as town clerk. Vineyard resigned from the position, but will stay on until a new clerk is hired.
Rohrer reported that he had received five applications for the position, and he conducted three interviews. He plans to hire the new clerk next week, and the successful applicant will start their duties after the first of the year. Vineyard will continue for three weeks to help the transition go smoothly. Rohrer said the applicants were familiar with Quickbooks, but not with ClerkBooks, which Vineyard said she felt was a difficult program to use.
There were also three applications for the part-time town maintenance position, but no action was taken.
At an earlier work session, the council discussed the problem of stray cats in town. In response to a question about the cat problem, Switzer said that the feral cats were a problem around town, and are getting more numerous. “I guess some residents are trapping the cats and having them spayed or neutered, which helps.” Switzer said.
No action was taken at the meeting.
The next meeting will be on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.
