Trial Date Set for Sheridan Woman Charged With Multiple Felonies

An Arraignment Hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 32-year-old Jeanette Godwin of Sheridan.
Godwin is charged with felony Burglary, felony Forgery, felony Obtaining Property by False Pretenses, and misdemeanor Theft. Godwin pleaded “not guilty” to all four of the charges. According to court documents, Godwin allegedly entered a home in Sheridan County on November 18 last year and stole a check that she later cashed in the amount of $11,000 after she forged the name of the account holder. She is also accused of taking four bottles of oxycodone from the home. District Court Judge John Fenn set the date for the pretrial conference for April 2 at 9:30 am. The four-day trial will begin on Monday, May 4.
During Thursday’s Arraignment, Sheridan County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christina White said that additional charges have been filed against Godwin for similar crimes that she has allegedly committed while out on bond. Judge Fenn said that due to the fact that the charges were filed in Circuit Court Thursday morning, he would give the defendant the upcoming weekend to get her affairs in order before issuing a bench warrant for her arrest Monday morning.
