Ron RichterIn July, 33-year-old Jordan Wathen was arrested and charged with one count of felony strangulation of a household member and one count of misdemeanor interference with an emergency call. According to court documents, Wathen was arrested after law enforcement responded to a 911 hang-up and domestic dispute where Wathen allegedly prevented the victim from calling 911 by breaking the individual’s phone. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Wathen pleaded “no contest” to the strangulation charge at a hearing Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. The prosecution is recommending the misdemeanor charge be dismissed at sentencing.
District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the sentencing date for January 11 at 9:45 am. Wathen’s bond was revoked and Judge Fenn remanded him to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center to await sentencing.
