Sheridan County has added 12 more COVID-19 cases to the 3,446 lab confirmed cases and two to the 988 probable cases since the pandemic began.

According to COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, currently, there are 230 active cases of the virus in the county. The virus has claimed the lives of 39 Sheridan County residents.

Currently, there are 15 residents hospitalized in Sheridan Memorial Hospital suffering from the virus. Five of those patients are in the Intensive Care Unit.

On Sept. 21, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon activated guardsmen who have stepped forward to provide temporary assistance to hospitals throughout the state due to overcrowding of COVID-19 patients.

Gordon called approximately 95 Soldiers and Airmen to State Active Duty orders, assigned to hospital locations at 24 different sites within 17 Wyoming cities.

They will serve to augment current hospital and Wyoming Department of Health staff to help ease workloads imposed upon them due to large numbers of COVID-19 hospitalizations.

During a Sheridan Memorial Hospital leadership meeting Chief Executive Officer Mike McCafferty informed the public that SMH does not currently require the assistance, but is relieved that it is available.

According to Chief Nursing Officer Barb Hespen, staff at SMH are working on a rotating schedule in an attempt to remain positive despite long hours and waning public support for medical workers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list Sheridan County’s level of community transmission as HIGH.

The Idiot Gordo is willing to call out the National Guard but unwilling to support President Biden’s mandate, something that will actually save lives. Makes no sense.

Which Biden mandate are you talking about? He has issued so many expect one ordering the border closed. Maybe if Biden and Harris had not said they would not take the TRUMP VACINE because they didnt trust it, maybe more people would have taken it … DUH

Are these National Guard personnel RN’s or respiratory therapists? What other kind of expertise would we need? And if so, are they pulled from their FT jobs to staff our facilities?
