According to a new study, some Wyoming residents are going back to work.
Wallethub reports that as of last week (May 24-27), Wyoming weekly unemployment claims are down 84.51% compared to the same week last year.
That’s tied with South Dakota as the 9th biggest decrease in the U.S. (Florida was #1 with a 96.49% drop and Rhode Island was last with a 248.73% increase).
From the beginning of 2021 through last week, Wyoming weekly unemployment claims versus the same time period in 2020, were down 43.35%, which is the 6th biggest decrease in the U.S. (South Carolina was #1 with 73.60% drop, while Delaware was last with a 549.03% increase).
Compared to 2019, Wyoming weekly unemployment claims are down 14.77%, which is tops in the nation (Rhode Island was last with a 1,930.30% increase).
In a recent report, the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says Wyoming’s unemployment rate for April was at 5.4%, which is up from 5.3% in March, but is down from the April 2020 rate which was 5.5%
Sublette County had the highest April 2021 unemployment rate at 7.1%, while Weston County had the lowest at 3.9%.
Sheridan County has a 5.2% unemployment rate for the month of April 2021.
That’s down from 5.7% in March 2021, and up from 5.1% in April 2020.
The national unemployment average for April 2021 is 6.1%, which is up from 6.0% in March.
Wyoming will end its participation in federal supplemental benefits on Saturday, June 19th.
