County OKs Lifting Hiring Freeze for Sheriff
Johnson County’s Commissioners voted to lift a county-wide hiring freeze for Sheriff Rod Odenbach to hire a new deputy in the coming weeks.
Sheriff Odenbach is currently in the process of hiring one deputy, and was asking for approval to hire another.
He explained what his department needed.
Undersheriff Pat Monroe said in the application for employment they asked for applicants to be post-certified as law enforcement officers, and that neither applicant they are currently looking at will need to be trained at the academy, saving the county money and time.
Sheriff Odenbach said, “I think we’ve got some pretty solid ones.”
The commissioners voted to allow the sheriff to hire a second deputy.
