Aaron PalmerTwo special meetings were held last week, one with Johnson County School District staff and parents, and the other by the school board, to discuss the possibility of moving the district to a trimester system and also to discuss the hiring process to replace current Superintendent Jim Wagner, who gave his resignation earlier this month.
BHS Principal Gib Ostheimer discussed the proposal to change their master schedule system to the board during a special meeting Wednesday, saying the idea is to ultimately help the students.
Staff discussed different schedules at different school districts around the state to find what might work here, which were the current 8-period schedule, accelerated block, alternate block, and the trimester block, and brought them before the board for a decision on which master schedule to have for the high school.
Staff are leaning toward the trimester system.
The board made no decision but will consider it and be prepared to make a decision at their March school board meeting.
The board also heard a presentation from Brian Farmer, Executive Director of the
Wyoming School Board Association, about the WSBA performing the search for a new superintendent.
The board, after an executive session, voted to hire the WSBA to perform the superintendent search.
