Sheridan Commission Rejects Setback Variance

Published

A setback variance for a property in Story has been denied by the Sheridan County Commission.

County Planner Mark Reid said landowners Greg and Kathleen Evanoff applied for a front setback variance on their property in Story that would allow a detached garage to be located about 5 feet from the lot line.

Reid explained the variance requested by the landowner was based on a “hardship” that would allow the variance to the regulations.

The planning staff, as well as the Planning and Zoning Commission, agreed that there is ample space elsewhere on the property that could accommodate a detached garage, an therefore no hardship existed.

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to not recommend approval of the variance.
