Three Sheridan students are among the 19 Wyoming residents that U.S. Senator Mike Enzi has nominated for United States service academies for 2021.

The three are Kavan Bede to the Naval Academy, Shyan Davidson to the Air Force Academy and Chili Tanner to both the Air Force Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy.

Enzi, who is retiring from the Senate at the end of the year, noted the nominations are one of his final acts as a senator. He said it’s an honor to nominate the Wyoming students, adding that young people from Wyoming demonstrate their patriotism and willingness to serve their country by applying to the nation’s service academies every year.

Enzi said in addition to a quality education, the service academies open doors and provide a unique set of skills that graduates will carry with them throughout their lives.

Nominees are chosen with the aid of an academy selection committee put together by Enzi. Once nominations are made, each academy will make a final selection of students to be accepted.
