SEEDA board members in their meeting this week approved a method of managing and approving change orders for the Kennon project while the new building is being constructed in Sheridan’s High-Tech Business Park.

Robert Briggs, who’s administrator of SEEDA – the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority – explained the proposed method to the board.

Anderson is Kent Anderson, who is the budget manager for the project. He, Briggs and some of the SEEDA members comprise the Kennon Project Committee.

Briggs said if Anderson determines that the change order is something the owner should be responsible for, then he would authorize the change order and bring the information to the Kennon Project Committee for review.

All change orders would then come before the full SEEDA board in the board’s quarterly meetings.

Briggs noted that the overall budget approved by the board for the Kennon project is in excess of the contract amount. Briggs said there will be a contract amendment at the end of the construction project which would incorporate all of the change orders.

The project will more than double the existing size of Kennon Products, to a total 35,000 square feet of both office and manufacturing space. Contractor for the project is Sletten Construction, and cost is around $5.7 million.
