Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.

Influenza claimed its latest victim in Sheridan this morning, Dec. 18. Mrs. Dickerson, a widow about 56 years old, lived with her mother at 144 North Gould street.

The body of Mrs. Mary M., wife of B. E. Garretson of Clearmont, lies beside that of her newly born child at the Champion & Shannon funeral rooms, while at home her husband and five other children are all suffering from the influenza. Mrs. Garretson died at Clearmont yesterday morning, a day after the death of her child.

Five new cases of influenza, all in Sheridan, were reported to County Health Officer Hurd yesterday. Modified quarantine was established at each afflicted home.
