The Buffalo City Council has approved a Resolution that will set the city’s mill levy for Fiscal Year 2021.

At their recent meeting, the council approved Resolution No. 1440.

The 8 mills are the most the city can request, and what is allowed municipal governments by the State of Wyoming to fund the operation of the cities.

Property taxes collected by the county are distributed to the city and town governments through the requested mill levies.

According to City Clerk Julie Silbernagel, the city receives about $450,000 total annually from the 8 mills, and she budgets that amount accordingly.

The majority of funding the city receives for operations is from sales taxes, which are expected to be down significantly this year.
