The Clearmont Historical Group (CHG) quilt show was a great success, and recently CHG Director Sandy Hirz announced their newest exhibit, which will be up all summer in the Clearmont Historical Center. This display “Pioneer Living, Home and Hearth,” features items from the early 1900s in Sheridan County during the homestead era.

A spinning wheel, sewing machine table, washboard and wash tub; a pitcher and bowl set and other items are currently on display in the center. Hirz said they appreciate any donations from around the area for the display. One item, which was very common in many homes, is a round braided rug. This rug is on loan to the center, but anyone who has one they would like to donate on a full time, year around basis, Hirz said it would be a welcome addition to the center’s collection.

The Clearmont Historical Group and Center seeks to preserve the history of the lower Clear Creek Valley with historical displays, books and information programs about the area’s rich history. For more information contact the Clearmont Historical Group at clearmonthistory@gmail.com, or call 1-307-758- 4685.

Anyone interested in being a part of the CHG is welcome to attend the regular meeting on May 19, at 1 p.m. in the Fulmer Room at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.

President Robert Prusak urges anyone interested to bring their ideas and any history projects they would like the group to work on. “If you get a chance, stop by the Center and see what the ladies have been up too. I know you will be surprised!!’ he added.
