JCSD1 Board Reviews Insurance Policies

The Johnson County School Board discussed the quote for general liability and property insurance policies and voted to accepted the quote at their recent school board meeting.
The quote was from from HUB International for just over $160,000 for one year with an option for an additional year.
Also discussed was the district employee health insurance rate.
The district was informed by the Wyoming Educators Benefit Trust (WEBT) earlier this year they would be getting a 13% increase due to the amount of claims over their premium.
A proposal submitted by the district’s business office would pay the 13% increase, or $362,881 by dividing it between the district at 50% or $181,440; 25% or $90,720 by a proposed Rate Stabilization Fund; and 25% or $90,720 by the individual employees in the healthcare plan.
After discussions, it was decided the board should schedule a special meeting Monday for a decision, to allow employees a chance to review the plan before participating in open enrollment in the health insurance plan.
At the special meeting, the board voted to approve the recommendation concerning the new health insurance rates.
