News ReleaseThousands of Wyomingites provide unpaid care to aging parents, spouses, and loved ones—often at great personal and financial cost. Now, with the support of President Donald Trump, a federal proposal, the Credit for Caring Act, aims to offer much-needed relief to family caregivers.
AARP Wyoming will host a free virtual town hall on Feb. 12 at 6 PM to discuss the caregiving challenges facing Wyoming families and how the proposed tax credit could help. Participants will hear from local caregivers and advocates, learn about the Credit for Caring Act, and watch an AARP video featuring President Trump’s message on the issue.

“This is a critical opportunity for Wyoming caregivers to learn about available resources, share their experiences, and take action,” said Sam Shumway, AARP Wyoming State Director. “With President Trump weighing in, now is the time to raise our voices and urge Congress to support America’s family caregivers.”
The event will get kicked off with caregiver stories from AARP Wyoming’s Volunteer President Stella Montano, who has created a Care for Caregiving program which is run in Sheridan, Casper, Cheyenne, and Newcastle. AARP Wyoming will then show a video featuring President Trump and his support for the Care for Caring Act, before ending the event by discussing how to support the act.
