City, Firefighters Union, Appoint Arbiters, Will Continue Negotiations

The City of Sheridan and the International Association of Firefighters Local Union 276 remain at odds on a one-year agreement as both sides have appointed their arbiter after the union rejected the City’s current offer. City Attorney Brendon Kerns during a special council meeting Monday night said that both sides can continue to negotiate even though arbiters have been appointed.
One of the main sticking points in the collective bargaining has been the cost share for health insurance for the firefighters. The contract that is currently being negotiated is for the fiscal year that begins on July 1.
