On Thursday night, Dec. 5, the Arvada-Clearmont School Music Department held a community concert and supper. A large crowd attended the event to hear the Christmas Music by the school bands and young vocalist, and there was a line of youngsters waiting to tell Santa what they hoped for under their Christmas tree this year.

Music teacher Kirsten Johnson welcomed the audience.

The first part of the program was the elementary grades, with the 5-6 grade band who performed three selections, and then the entire elementary music group sang several active Christmas songs.

After the concert, Santa and Mrs. Claus appeared and listened to Christmas wishes, and gave each child a goodie bag, provided by the Clearmont Women’s Club.

A free supper was served for those attending, and the music department wanted to thank Greg Rohrer and Aubrey Holland for the meal.

After supper, the Junior High and High School band and vocalists performed several Christmas songs.

Other special thanks went out the Gerry Chase for running the sound and for helping to prepare the concert; Amanda Andreen and Mandi Buchanan for the after-school activities; Joslyn Camino and Jennifer Betz for their help in planning the event.
