Forge will host powerlifting event to benefit Uprising

Seeking a location to lift during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chancellor Perry began making his own gym equipment. In 2020, Perry reached out to his old lifting partner Mike Alzheimer, to fulfill an old dream of opening a gym together and officially opened Forge Physio and Performance. Perry took the lead of strength and conditioning/fabrication and Alzheimer incorporating physical therapy and rehab into the business model.

Through a professional colleague, Alzheimer learned of the mission and work of Uprising. As Sheridan business owners, the two decided to partner with the anti-human trafficking organization and get involved. 

Alzheimer said the more he learned the truth about human trafficking, the more he and Perry felt they should be involved with prevention and education. Alzheimer became an Uprising board member.

Predators search for victims who may not have many friends, loners who may not have an ear to listen or have become isolated.  According to Perry, since learning the information presented by the Uprising team, a new goal within the gym is to create a safe place culture among members and staff. To help raise funds for Uprising and strengthen the community mindset, the team at Forge will be hosting a powerlifting competition.

All are welcome to join with all proceeds benefiting Uprising’s vital work in preventing youth exploitation and predatory behavior.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 19. The public can watch or compete in the deadlift competition, with the goal to lift 10,000 lbs between all competitors. 

The entry cost for competitors 16 and older is $35.00, or free entry for youth 15 and under thanks to generous sponsors. All competitors will receive a free event t-shirt. Learn more and register to lift by clicking here.
