Wyoming’s unemployment rate increased slightly from July to August 2024, and the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says that is unusual for this time of year.
The Department says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Wyoming increased from 2.9% to 3.0%
It was at 2.8% in August of last year.
The rate for the rest of the country dropped slightly from 4.3% to 4.2%
It was at 3.8% last year.
Sheridan County’s rate from July to August increased from 2.5% to 2.8%.
Johnson County’s rate had a bigger increase from 2.5% to 3.1%.
Both counties were at 2.2% in August of 2023.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in the state for August at 1.8%, while Big Horn, Platte and Sublette Counties each had the highest rate at 3.6%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 1,200 jobs from August of last year to August of this year.
