Sheridan is one step closer to getting the money that’s needed to purchase the land for the second phase of the High-Tech Business Park.

Last week, the Wyoming Business Council recommended approval of the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority’s (SEEDA) request, for a $4.4 million Community Readiness grant, to develop phase two of the Sheridan High-Tech Park.

The project would include the purchase of 35 acres of property in north Sheridan, near the current business park, as well as installation of water, sewer, and roadway infrastructure.

SEEDA Administrator Robert Briggs says the success of the first phase of High-Tech Business Park, might have been a factor when the Council made its decision.

“I think the Business Council Board Members are looking for projects that will increase the likelihood of the community becoming more economically diverse. They’re looking for projects that have been planned and are thought out, and I think that with the success of the first phase of the High Tech Business Park, that’s always a good thing. Always a positive thing to show that you have done a similar project in the past and that it has been successful.”

Briggs adds the purchase of the land must be completed in November, but before that can happen, SEEDA still has to get approval from the Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board, which is scheduled to meet on Thursday, October 3rd.
