Yellowstone National Park recorded its third busiest July on record last month, but has now fallen behind pace to top its yearly visitor record.
The Park reports it hosted 992,352 recreational visits in July 2024, up 2% from July 2023 (969,692 recreation visits).
Only 2 July’s recorded more numbers.
Those years were 2016 (995,917 recreational visits) and 2021 (1,080,767 recreational visits).
So far in 2024, the park has hosted 2,626,091 recreational visits, which is up 7% from 2023 (2,462,535 recreation visits), and down 2% from 2021 (2,668,765 recreation visits).
Yellowstone NP’s annual record is 4,860,242 visits, which happened in 2021.
There were 4,501,382 visits in 2023.
June, July and August tend to be the busiest months of the year in terms of visitor numbers.
