SCSD#1 Receives CTE Grant

During their regular meeting on Wednesday, July 17, the SCSD#1 Board of Trustees held a short budget hearing for the 2024-2025 budget, presented by Jeremy Smith, Business Manager. He had presented the board with the budget earlier to give the members time to read over the budget. He said it will be posted on-line as well.
Chairman Clint Krumm complemented Smith on the job he does for the district.
Smith added that he had good people helping him, and he gave them credit as well. “You’re only as good as the crew you work with,” he said. “I’ll pass that on to them.”
There was one visitor at the meeting, John Bridges, Big Horn, who voiced his concern about the school district’s paying Only Co, a marketing company, to help the school obtain money from various foundations to support the school district’s activities.
The board appointed Superintendent Dr. Jeff Jones as the Title IX Coordinator, Grant Officer and Hot Lunch Hearing Officer, who is the one who helps to decide which applicants for the reduced lunch program qualify for the program.
The board moved to adopt the 2024-25, budget as presented, as well as the 2024-25 student activities, employee, buildings and crisis handbooks.

Superintendent Jones talked about a grant that SCSD#1 applied for
CTE Programs include everything from “Accounting to Welding,” Smith said.
They also approved the bid from Interior Images to replace the carpet in the Tongue River Learning Center. It will be for carpets in the part of the building that the school uses for their programs. Smith said that the carpet was 21 years old, and the district had gotten ‘good, long use out of it.”
The board approved former superintendent Pete Kilbride as the new SCSD#1 Recreation District Board member.
After the meeting, Jones talked to Sheridanmedia about the upcoming school year.
The first day of school will be August 19. The next board of trustees meeting will be on August 20, at the Central Office in Ranchester at 6 p.m.
