Jo Co Commission Awards 1% Fund Recommendations

During their last regular meeting, Johnson County’s Commissioners voted to award funding recommended by the 1% Committee.

Chairman Bill Novotny spoke about the requests.

Some awards were less than requested, while other awards were more than requested.

Overall, the commission awarded just over $198,000 to various outside agencies.

The commission will consider funding requests from county departments at their meeting April 16.

1% Funds awarded were:

$7,000 to Volunteers of America for operational support; $30,000 to the Family Crisis Center; $80,849 to Hoofprints of the Past Museum for building repairs; $7,920 to the Buffalo Children’s Center for HVAC work; $15,000 to the Buffalo Golf Course for equipment; $20,000 to the Boys & Girls Club for operational support; $27,500 to Sheridan College in Johnson County for operational support; $25,000 to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce; $27,482 to Kaycee Senior Housing for a backup generator; $20,000 to the COMPASS Center for Families for operational support; $5,000 to the St. Francis Animal Shelter for the spay/neuter/ vaccine program with an additional $1,500; and $3,000 to the Buffalo Community Skating Rink.
