Johnson County prepares to update Land Use Plan

Johnson County Commission Chair Bill Novotny made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the upcoming process of updating the county’s land use plan.
Novotny said the land use plan is an important document referred to while commissions look to the future of their county’s needs.

The documents also offer each county in Wyoming a level of protection from interests outside the state.

Land use plans are a critical resource for counties that are undergoing growth in population as both Sheridan and Johnson Counties have recently experienced.

The process of updating the document can take six to nine months. Novotny said that is due to the public involvement, which is not only required but he is encouraging from Johnson County residents.
Public meetings will be announced in the coming days and a 45 day review and comment period will allow those who cannot attend to have their voices heard.
