The Sheridan County One Percent Specific Purpose Capital Facilities Tax, or Cap Tax as it is better known, was last renewed by voters in Sheridan County in November of 2013. Revenue from the cap tax is used exclusively to fund capital projects throughout Sheridan County. Renewal of the tax will be on the ballot in November in Sheridan County. Representatives from Sheridan County, the City of Sheridan, Clearmont, Ranchester and Dayton took part in a virtual discussion on the cap tax Tuesday night.

Each entity provided a proposed list of projects and a timeline of the process was submitted and discussed by the participants of the virtual meeting. Tuesday’s meeting was the first step in the process, that includes the formation of a task force and sending out a Request for Proposals for an information-education program.

Sheridan County Administrator Renee Obermueller, who facilitated the virtual meeting,  recommended the formation of two committees moving forward.
