Plenty of Ice at Lake DeSmet for Fishing Derby

The 4th Annual Sheridan Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby is scheduled for this weekend at Lake DeSmet, but there has been some concern that the warm weather this winter means the ice might not be safe to fish on.
That is not the case, according to Rob Forister with the Rotary Club, who explains more about the conditions at Lake DeSmet.
Forister explains how the derby came about.
The derby will give anglers a chance to win up to a $25,000 Grand Prize, but also $1,000 for the longest fish; $300 for the second largest fish; and $200 for the third largest fish in four separate categories.
Forister said everyone is welcome to participate in the event.
The Sheridan Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby is sponsored in part by Sheridan Media.
