SCSD#3 Board Met on Wednesday

SCSD#3 School Board met on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Clearmont School.

One item on the agenda was the acceptance of the letter of resignation from Amy Vineyard who was a board trustee and chairman. Vineyard’s young son, Bronc, a student at ACHS, has been diagnosed with leukemia.

There is a fund set up to help the family with expenses. People can make donations through the school, and AC Panther shorts and jerseys are available to purchase for a donation for anyone who wants to show their support for Bronc and Panther Pride.

Superintendent Chase Christensen and Board Chairman Wade Betz thanked Vineyard for her years of service on the board,

Due to Vineyard’s resignation, the board is asking for anyone interested in a position on the board to submit a letter of interest to the school.

Elections of board trustees were held, with Wade Betz, vice-chair and acting chairman in Vineyard’s absence, was voted as chairman; Karis Prusack as vice-chairman; Debra Guyer as treasurer; and Trinity Lewis as clerk.

Betz is the BOCES representative, with Guyer being the alternate.

The board talked briefly about the Clearmont School Mission Statement, and that will be re-visited at a later date. Betz had this to say about adopting a mission and belief statement.

He said it should encompass who we are and what we do at Clearmont School.

Changes to the school calendar for 2024-25 were discussed, Christensen said this about the change of the school start date.

The board approved the hiring of Tiffany Greear as volunteer assistant girls’ basketball coach, and Seth Greear as volunteer assistant boys’ basketball coach.

One of the two boilers at the school has some issues and will either need repaired or replaced, or some other form of backup heat may be necessary.
