cvannoyOn Tuesday, Dec. 5, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Legislative forum brought together Sheridan County Organizations and Legislators to discuss concerns.
Senators Dave Kinskey and Bo Biteman, along with Representatives Barry Crago, and Cyrus Western, Mark Jennings and Ken Pendergraft, joined the 30 organizations that attended the forum.
One of the presentations was by Misty Moore, District Manager Wyoming State Parks Absaroka District.
She talked about Fort Phil Kearny.
She also talked about the interpretative program. She said they have three district-wide interpretive rangers. In the Absaraka district, they offered 74 programs this past season with over 300 statewide, and it reaches people on a personal level.
She added this about Trail End Historic site,
She said that over the past weekend three-night open house tour, and they brought in 1271 people which was the best since Covid, and about capicity for the trail end.
She also talked about access to the LX Bar Ranch, which is an historic Kendrick Ranch along the Powder River
Kinskey asked Moore if the private landowners whose lands join the LX Bar land would be willing to help make the site more accessible and Moore said they had a good relationship with them and at least one of the landowners wanted to see that access happen. She talked about putting in a parking lot but added that the landowner was reluctant to make this type of permanent feature on his land until the State Parks found a way to cross the river to the LX Bar.
