JCSD1 Board Passes Policy Changes on First Reading

The Johnson County School Board, during their regular meeting this month, discussed two policy changes brought before them.

The committee charged with reviewing the policies made changes to Policy GCQA, concerning terminating certified teacher contracts, and Policy JLG, adopting the

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act concerning homeless students.

The board, after discussions on both policy changes, voted to accept them on first reading.

The changes to GCQA scaled down the policy, bringing it in line with current Wyoming School Board Association policy and was reviewed and approved by the district’s legal team.

Policy JLG, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal law that the district did not want to change but just adopt as written which is in compliance with the federal law.
