The Johnson County School District’s bus drivers are busy and getting kids where they need to be, but according to Transportation Director Bill McKenzie, his department is still in need of drivers.

McKenzie, in his report to the school board this month, said several of his employees are working dual roles as both route drivers and activity drivers.

There are currently two drivers being trained.

He said fall activities are wrapping up and requests for the winter sports season have started to come into the department.

He continues to recruit drivers with needs for substitute route drivers in both Buffalo and Kaycee.

He asked the board to continue reaching out to community stakeholders to help in the recruitment of drivers.
