The Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo has implemented a restricted visitation policy for the Amie Holt Adult Care Center.

In a release, the JCHC said as of last Friday, visitors including family members, will not be allowed into the AHCC until further notice, with a few exceptions.

End-of-life and/or hospice care situations are among the few exceptions to the restriction, and will be authorized and managed by AHCC’s director of nursing.

Only essential caregivers, vendors and regulatory personnel are allowed to enter AHCC, but must undergo screening prior.

These actions are necessary to protect our nursing home residents, most of whom are 60 years or older and have underlying conditions and/or chronic illness.

The JCHC said in the release, “(We) recognizes the vulnerable nature of those we serve and the need to protect staff who care for them. JCHC takes the threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously and continues to implement necessary steps to safeguard patients, residents, visitors and staff. We align our response plans with evolving CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommendations and guidelines.”

In addition to the restriction, JCHC has implemented campus-wide precautions to protect patients, residents, visitors and staff, including: following CDC guidelines to reduce the risk of the spread of respiratory infections through standard and enhanced infection prevention practices, such as a focus on reducing traffic in our facilities, sanitation, hand hygiene compliance, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE); screening patients and visitors across our campus and staffing up specific departments to answer phones and monitor entrances; working with partner agencies in Johnson County to share information and collaborate our plans.

The JCHC said their caregivers have the most current information and screening and prevention guidelines available from the CDC, State of Wyoming and other reputable sources.

Updates and resources are available on JCHC’s website.
