Sheridan County’s Commissioners considered and then approved the application to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for federal funding on the 2024 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program.

County Engineer Ken Muller gave more details on the application and the county’s mitigation program.

Along with the $376,000 in federal funding, the county will contribute $94,000 as a local match for the project.

Muller said the county has about 450 miles of gravel roads that can be treated, with less than 100 miles treated per year.

The county rotates the roads treated every year, according to Muller.
