Ron RichterAn arraignment hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court for a 31-year-old Sheridan woman charged with multiple felonies. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
On April 14, 31-year-old Skye Rice of Sheridan was arrested and charged with five felonies for allegedly dealing drugs in the Sheridan area and being in possession of drugs with a child present. Rice was arraigned Thursday in District Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges of delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl, and child endangerment.
District Court Judge Ben Kirven scheduled a #2 stack three-day jury trial for October 23 and set a pretrial conference for October 5 at 9:30 am. A motion by the defense to lower the bond was granted by the Court, as Judge Kirven modified the $35,000 cash or surety bond that was previously set in Circuit Court, to a $20,000 cash or surety bond. If convicted on all counts, Rice faces up to a maximum of 59 years in prison and fines of up to $85,000.

On September 29, 2022, Nicole Goodman of Fresno, California and Mark Anthony of Gillette were arrested by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office for breaking into a construction trailer in Sheridan County. Goodman, at a change of plea hearing in April in Fourth Judicial District Court, entered a guilty plea to the charge of burglary. In exchange for the guilty plea, the prosecution agreed to dismiss a secondary charge of conspiracy to commit burglary as part of a plea agreement.
District Court Judge Ben Kirven, at a hearing Thursday, accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the state and sentenced Goodman to 3 to 5 years in prison and ordered her to pay $275 in court costs and fees, $750 in public defender fees and $5,000 in restitution. Goodman was given credit for 275 days of time served and she was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center where she will be housed until she’s transferred to the Wyoming Women’s Center in Lusk to serve her prison sentence.
