According to the Bighorn National Forest website, seasonal rain is resulting in much unanticipated moisture on the Bighorn National Forest Road system creating hazardous conditions for vehicular traffic, including four-wheeler and ATV travel, and forest users. Attempting to drive on the muddy roads can cause resource and roadway damage on the mountain.

Lisa Balch, of the Tongue River District of the Big Horn National Forest, had this to say about the conditions on the mountain.

The website stated that anyone who has a camper that is currently off a closed road can call your local district ranger office. Communicate the following information: your location, plate number and a brief description of your camper. Do not attempt to remove the camper, as it may cause damage to the roads and the forest lands. Bighorn NF office hours are Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 4:30pm.

If you have questions, please contact your local ranger office, at the numbers listed below.

Balch added,

As conditions improve roads will be re-opened. Follow them Twitter (@BighornNF) or like us on Facebook (US Forest Service – Bighorn National Forest).
