City Council Approves Budget Resolution

The Sheridan City Council considered a resolution for the budget for the 2024 fiscal year at their regularly scheduled business meeting Monday night. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The City Council approved the City budget in the amount of $97,225,679 for the upcoming fiscal year that begins on July 1. City Administrator Stu McRae talked about why the amount is higher than what’s typically been budgeted.
Councilors Andrew Patceg and Kristen Jennings voted against the budget resolution. The Council also approved a resolution establishing sewer rates and fees. The resolution adopted Monday night by the City Council adjusts the 5-year sewer utility rate plan that was approved in 2022 from 2.75 percent to a 2.95 percent annual rate increase.
The new rates and fee schedule will result in an overall increase of approximately 63-cents per monthly bill starting on July 1, 2023, which is a four-cent increase from the fee schedule that was adopted a year ago.
