As technology continues to change, so too must the software that runs it and the University of Wyoming and several state community colleges are working on educating those that want to get into that field.

Beginning this coming fall semester, Sheridan College will start offering a software development degree program.

The college will help with the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and UW will help with the last two years.

During his recent visit to Sheridan, UW President Ed Seidel praised the degree program.

Ed Seidel

“We created a new school of computing that’s just getting going and the best of the partnerships we have with that school of computing, that’s just getting started, is working with Sheridan and other community colleges to create what I think will become a state-wide program in software development, so that every student in this state will have an opportunity to learn those kind of digital skills that they’re going to need, no matter what their major, they will be able to do that.”

Sheridan College isn’t the only Wyoming Community College offering software development classes.

Similar courses are also offered at Northwest College in Powell and at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.

Both of those colleges are also partnering with each other, UW and Sheridan College.
